ブッシュ米大統領が、イラクへの増派を表明していた米軍2万1500人の支援に加え、新たに4400人を追加増派する方針を決めたことが10日、分かった。中南米を歴訪している大統領の同行筋の話として米メディアが同日、報じた。
追加要員は戦闘に直接加わらない支援部隊。バグダッドでの掃討作戦などに関連して2400人、その他の支援業務で2000人を増派する。
